Dan Solomon has been involved in marketing, advertising and public relations for more than forty years.

  

He held creative posts with two New York City advertising agencies and a California public retations firm before becoming Communications Director and principal spokesman for E. & J. Gallo winery, the world’s largest. During a

  23 - year Gallo tenure, Solomon created the winery’s first public relations department, dealt with the world wine and food media, and helped develop

the winery’s hospitality programs both in Modesto and Sonoma. He also created wine education and training programs for the winery and its distributors.

 

Following Gallo, Solomon handled public relations many wineries including Allied Domecq’s’ Clos du Bois, William Hill, Callaway and Atlas Peak wineries, plus Argentina’s Balbi, Spain’s Marquez De Arienzo, Domecq and Bristol Cream Sherries, and Portugal’s Cockburn’s Port. He has also worked with St. Supery, Delicato and the Lodi - Woodbridge Wine Commission.

 

A Past President of the Society of Wine Educators, a 1200-member organization of teachers and writers, Solomon is the only president elected two consecutive terms. He was also a member of the marketing and public relations committee of Wine Institute, America’s leading wine trade organization, and served as public relations counsel to both The American Society of Enology and Viticulture and the American Vineyard Foundation. He has been keynote speaker at The Wine Literary Awards in San Francisco and served as President of The Academy of Wine Communications, an organization of winery public relations practitioners.
