Rebecca Murphy, Owner, Vintage Productions
Rebecca Murphy is the owner of
Vintage Productions, a wine-consulting firm based in Dallas, TX and Portland, OR. She is a free lance writer with
a weekly feature in The Dallas Morning News and most recently has written
articles for Wine Business Monthly, Wines & Vines and Wine & Spirits
and contributed to the in-progress editions of The Oxford Companion to Wine and
The World Atlas of Wine. In her more than thirty years of professional
experience, she has written extensively on wine, and developed seminars, wine tastings and dinners to educate consumers and members of
the trade.
Murphy began her
wine career as the first female wine steward in Texas in 1972. In 1989, because of her
work in education and the promotion of wine in Texas, she was elected by her peers to
"Who's Who in Wine and Food in Texas," sponsored by the Texas
Department of Agriculture and The Dallas Morning News.
Rebecca serves
annually as a professional judge in several wine competitions including the Los
Angeles County Fair Wines of the World Competition and Decanter World Wine
Awards. She is also the founder and chairman of The Dallas Morning News Wine
Competition, now in its twenty-second year.
Rebecca received her
undergraduate degree in 1975 from the University of Texas at Arlington, and completed a Masters of
Nonprofit Administration at the University of San Francisco in 2001. In 2002 Rebecca was
accepted as a Master of Wine candidate. She is a member of the Circle of Wine
Writers, and Society of Wine Educators.
Rebecca Murphy lives
with her husband, Keith Marton, in Portland, OR where she is a board member of
Portland Farmers Market.
