Sponsorship Opportunities

FOUNDING SPONSOR
Because an event is "new” but once, this “Founding” sponsorship is available only this year as we kick off the first Lodi International Wine Awards judging. We are using a unique and revolutionary new judging method.  Interest and "buzz" about our competition will be high. We believe we have a great opportunity for publicity in both consumer and trade publications and in the local broadcast media as well. As a Founding Sponsor, your name/logo will be included in all publicity, advertising, print and written material as we promote and market this unique competition. Additional visibility will be garnered at point of sale when local and national restaurants, E-tailers and retail sponsors alike feature our award winning wines on wine lists and in-store promotions.

In addition to the Awards judging, the Lodi International Wine Awards is creating and fielding on-going sensory research and methodology developed and supervised by a special advisory body of sensory scientists, including Dr. Michael O’Mahoney and Rie Ishi of UC Davis and statisticians including Dr. Hildegarde Heymann, of UC Davis. The research will not only improve the reliability of future wine judgings but should generate rich data dealing with consumer taste preferences. These data will be collected before, during and after the judging in March, 2008. We seek to refine and clarify a number of on-going hypotheses derived from an earlier 2003 survey. The 2003 survey, with more than 7,000 responses delves into consumer preferences, attitudes and behaviors.

Therefore, in addition to the promotional value of marketing and public relations, sponsors will also receive data from our consumer research program.

Research and Educational Sponsorship
As a Research and Educational Sponsor of the Lodi International Wine Awards you will receive a complete report of findings from the preliminary screening and segmentation study of our judging body. You will also receive results from our on-line consumer interface plus a breakdown of preference segments as they correlate to the wines in the competition.

Wineries who enter their wines will receive a breakdown dealing with the performance of each wine entered. As a Research and Educational Sponsor, you receive all data plus your name and/or logo will be included in all publicity, advertising, print and written material as we promote and market our unique competition and its results.

National Restaurant/Retailer Sponsorship
This level of sponsorship is specifically designed for a national restaurant or retail chain who wishes to promote award-winning wines nationally. We will work with a prospective sponsor to help customize their promotion to better fit the sponsor's needs. For example, a national sponsor might wish to promote a selection of award winning wines based on flavor categories, or perhaps by varietal or wine type. As a National/Retailer Sponsor, your name/logo will be included in all publicity, advertising, print and written material as we promote and market our unique competition.

A national sponsor might want to select 2 to 6 award winning wines that best complements their consumer demographic or taste profile(s). Customers might be offered award-winning wines by-the-glass or by some other form of in-store merchandising. The Lodi International Wine Awards will work to help guarantee a certain number of cases be made available for sponsor purchase

Note: We understand wine requirements will be dictated by the needs of the sponsor based upon past experience and promotion efficiency. We will work with the sponsor and the wineries involved to obtain appropriate quantities needed, at the wholesale national average price point.

Regional Sponsorship
Here is a sponsorship to be considered by restaurants, retail chains or independent wine shops located throughout the Northern California region. This sponsorship might also appeal to a retailer wishing to test or otherwise limit promotion and merchandising to their Northern California sales region. A prospective regional sponsor might for example choose two to six award-winning wines based on those varietals or wine types that best complement their customer demographic. The Lodi International Wine Awards will work with regional sponsor(s) to guarantee wine quantities needed for marketing and promotional activities. As a Regional Sponsor, your name/logo will be included in all publicity, advertising, print and written material as we promote and market our unique competition.

Wine requirements are to be specified by the sponsor in order to create an effective and efficient promotion. This includes, but is not limited to, the number of cases and wine types required. Lodi International Wine Awards will work to obtain the product quantity needed at the wholesale national average price point

National Trophy Awards
The Lodi International Wine Awards has reserved three (3) special varietal wine trophies — Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay and Riesling — for national sponsorship. The sponsor(s) of these trophies would have the right to market and promote the award winning sponsored varietals within their business. Attractive trophies will be awarded to the winning wineries with your business name engraved on it. Your company will also receive mention in the awards ceremony and whenever the trophy award is listed or mentioned. A duplicate trophy will be provided to the sponsor for display. As a National Trophy Sponsor, your name/logo will be included in all publicity, advertising, print and written material as we promote and market our unique competition.

Local Trophy Awards
Local Trophy awards are offered to local businesses within the Greater Lodi area. Each of the 33 trophies recognizes a specific grape variety or wine type. A trophy will be awarded to the wine that the judges feel best captures the characteristics of that grape variety. These attractive trophies — bearing your name — will be awarded to the winning winery and is usually prominently displayed in a public tasting room. Your company will receive a duplicate for display should you wish to do so.

This program helps supports the Lodi Tokay Rotary Club and its activities. As a Local Trophy Sponsor, your name/logo will be included in all publicity, advertising, print and written material as we promote and market this unique competition.

Trophy sponsorship opportunities exist for all grape varieties (except for Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay and Riesling). Local trophy sponsorships vary in cost, based upon the popularity of the grape variety.

Sensory Research information and data — free to sponsors
The Lodi International Wine Awards is pursuing a unique program of sensory research which will not only improve the quality and reliability of future wine judgings but will generate rich data that can be of great value to the wine industry. These data will be made available free of charge to participating wineries for each of the wines they enter. It will also be available to other interested parties for a nominal fee.

We will also be sharing a vast amount of non branded research data generated by the competition. Our intention is to further research wine consumer preferences, including who drinks; and who drinks what by wine type and why.

During the judging, wines will be evaluated by panels of experts representing the three consumer taste categories: Tolerant, Sensitive, or Hyper-sensitive. Each wine entered will be evaluated and placed in its appropriate tasting category. Research results for each wine entered — including evaluation and category placement — will be shared with the winery entering that wine, as well as certain sponsors.
